Dustins Visit to South Africa (22 Aug - 7 Sept 2010) First Stop - Cape Town

CAPE TOWN

A much awaited holiday for both of us seemed to take forever to get here! It has now come and gone and we both have so many special memories together that we will keep forever. We started off by having him meet my Mom and Melissa on the first Monday (23 Aug 2010) he was here. I was so happy to see how well they got on, it didn't seem to be awkward at all and I was SO thankful for that!

We started off our travels in Cape Town.

We flew to Cape Town on the Tuesday (24 Aug 2010). The weather was beautiful when we got there, and we were able to find the place we were staying in with no problems. We decided that there wasn't going to be time to go see anything so we used the afternoon to go get a few groceries and relax.

THIS IS OUR FIRST PHOTO WE TOOK OF US TOGETHER IN CAPE TOWN ON THE BALCONY....

Our first full day in Cape Town (25th August, 2010), was a beautiful clear sunny day. We decided that it was a good day to go up Table Mountain, Dustin was quite excited to go up and see the views - I had been already on a previous family trip to Cape Town, but I was still keen to see it again. Unfortunately when we got there we were told that the cables were being repaired and would only reopen the following week - huge disappointment, because we weren't going to be there!! But there most definitely will be another opportunity to go up!

So we decided to head off to Hout Bay. We went to Mariners Warf and had the most divine Calamari and Chips, then went on a boat ride to Duiker Island (Seal Island) to see the seals - WOW but they stink! :) LOL It was quite an awesome boat ride there and we got a few nice pics of the seals and US!

On our second day in Cape Town (26th August, 2010), we went to Fishhoek and had some Calamari and Chips - also divine!! The beach in Fishhoek is stunning! The place we ate lunch was on the beach front, it was windy but great. Here's a pic.

Then we went to visit the penguins - also quite stinky. We didn't see any penguins on the rocks at first, but when we walked on the wooden walkway we saw quite a few under the trees etc. I just love the way they walk - they are just too cute :) Dustin quite enjoyed seeing them so close....

When we left, there was a penguin "waddling" around in the parking lot - I think Dustin got very excited because he suddenly got all snap happy and was trying to call it to come closer to him, for a close up pic! LOL, here he is... (The penguin - not Dustin...)

DUSTINS FRIEND....

We still had time to kill so we went to the Ostriches, on the way I was happy to show Dustin a place called "Millers Point", told him we should have bought a Miller Beer and had him stand underneath it, LOL! We didn't get out at the Ostrich Farm (I think Dustin was a bit scared of the Ostrich - maybe they could "fly" over the fences??), just drove in took a few pics then left. Here is a pic of Dustin (in the car) with a few in the background...

DUSTIN AND THE OSTRICH....

On our way back "home" I was hoping that we would "run" into some baboons - the area has a ton of warning signs for Baboons, and while I was there with my family in April we saw a whole group of them - eating naartjies! Anyways we were only lucky to see one roaming the road - much excitement from Dustin!

BABOON SITTING IN THE ROAD....

On our last day in Cape Town (27th August, 2010), we took a drive along Chapmans Peak - one of the best places to see the most amazing views! We took a few pictures and enjoyed the drive. We then went to the Aquarium at the V&A Waterfront - beautiful sea life and the place is HUGE! After that we met up with Carla's Mom (Denise) and Justin (Carla's sisters fiancé) at a pub, I must say it was a very enjoyable but INTERESTING evening after 3 bottles of delicious wine! All I can say is "SMURFS" (which only some of us that read this will get, LOL!!!!), and can you believe this our Waiter magically appeared when Denise clapped!! HAHA...
